Comic Life 2 is a fun and creative application for creating comics, annotated images, dynamic photo albums, greeting cards, scrap books, story books, instruction guides and brochures. The software can be used for grades 1 to 12 in many different subject areas such as Language, History, Mathematics, Science, and any other area in which students would need to demonstrate their understanding.

The visually interesting templates in Comic Life 2 helps students organize their ideas through storytelling and storyboarding. Comic Life 2 will be especially valuable for students who may have low interest in writing by developing composition techniques through visual-verbal connections. Students with difficulty writing will also find the software helpful as it allows them to express their thoughts and understanding through images and text.

Its easy to use interface will enable students to control how complex they decide to have their comic and to what degree they wish to show their understanding (i.e., through pictures and/or words).
  • Interests- Students can use Comic Life 2 to express their personal tastes and creativity in the appearance of the comic. Because there are many different subject areas that Comic Life 2 can be applied to students will be able to take any subject they are studying and find new and fun ways to show their understanding.
  • Learning preferences- Comic Life 2 can be used by students in a number of ways. Students can choose the templates on the computer, then print it out and draw the pictures by hand rather than adding images from the computer. Students can also choose to express their thoughts in words through various ways such as instructions, dialogue, or in sentences for a story.

 How does Comic Life 2 connect with the Ontario Curriculum?

MEDIA LITERACY – Grades 1-8 Language AND Grades 9-12 English

Students will demonstrate an understanding of various types of media, explain how conventions and techniques create meaning, and create a variety of media texts for different purposes and audiences using appropriate forms, conventions and techniques.

READING – Grades 1-8 Language AND Grades 9-12 English

Students will be able to recognize a variety of text forms, text features, and stylistic elements and demonstrate understanding of how they help communicate meaning.

WRITING – Grades 1-8 Language AND Grades 9-12 English

Students can generate, gather, and organize ideas and information to write for an intended purpose and audience. They can draft and revise their writing, using a variety of informational, literary, and graphic forms and stylistic elements appropriate for the purpose and audience. Comic Life 2 also allows the use editing, proofreading, and publishing skills and strategies, and knowledge of language conventions, to correct errors, refine expression, and present their work effectively.

Q: Is there a printable manual?

A: No. However, you can access the inbuilt manual - by going to Help > Comic Life 2 Help within Comic Life 2.

Q: Is there a limit to how many pages I can put in a document?

A: No. No internal limit. Just limited by your computer's hardware. If you notice Comic Life 2 starting to get slow - then save the document as "Filename - part1" or something else aptly named and then create another document and name it something like "Filename = part2".

Q: How do I access Comic Life 2 for my classroom?
