There are six Grades 7 and 8 Differentiated Instruction (DI) Project sites; one in each of the six regions of Ontario. As part of the Student Success/Learning to 18 Differentiated Instruction Professional Learning Strategy, these sites have provided resource materials in a variety of subject areas to support implementation of differentiated instruction. The resource material includes lesson plans, instructional activities, samples of DI Structures, assessment strategies and student work.
The materials and strategies reflect a variety of stages of implementation of differentiated instruction and the particular needs of the contexts for which they were designed. The products provide a glimpse of several approaches to implementation of differentiated instruction by teachers, educator teams, and boards. All products are downloadable and can be used to generate ideas or revised for local use. Please scrutinize when adapting to local context to ensure alignment with ministry and board policy.
The Ministry of Education is grateful to the many educators involved in the Differentiated Instruction projects for their significant contributions to the array of products on this site and for their reflective practice and insight that informs our ongoing work.
