Learning-Oriented Improvement Processes

System leaders work to create learning-oriented organizational improvement processes in a number of ways, including:

  • Requiring improvement processes to be evidence-informed
  • Setting a manageable number of precise targets for district school improvement
  • Creating structures and norms to encourage regular discussions about improvement progress
  • Developing and implementing board and school improvement plans in a collaborative manner
  • Create structures to facilitate regular monitoring of progress
  • Allowing for school-level variation in school improvement efforts
